Popular singer Seun Kuti has come out to say that several Yoruba kings do not believe in Yoruba gods.

He recently had his say via his social media page, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, these kings are actually a mockery of whatever Yorubaland stands for, and he has never understood the need to organize any form of fanfare amid the lingering misery in Yorubaland.

Describing such gatherings as ignorant, Seun added that celebrating festivals in the face of poverty only papers over the cracks.

His words, “90 percent of Yoruba kings don’t believe in Yoruba gods yet they sit on Yoruba thrones and make a mockery of what it means to be Yoruba.

Fanfare in the midst of misery, Joy in the face of poverty And glamor in the presence of ignorance.

Being Yoruba is not a festival!

There is no bigger criminal than the benevolent king/dictator.”
