Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has accused actress Peggy Ovire and her team of assault. He recently revealed that his colleague tampered with his car during a heated confrontation on a Lagos movie set.

Speaking during a live video he shared, Taye said the clash began after his contract for the night ended, and it led to Peggy ordering her driver to block his vehicle while he was about to leave.

He added that the actress went as far as deflating his tyres and inflicting injuries on his lips and gums.

His words, “I went back to try and get the things in my car. Yeah, I’m okay. I’m alright. I have injuries. Serious injuries, but… I’m more concerned about… the things in my car… I have injuries in my love gum. It’s just crazy how things are happening.

My car tyres got flattened in the heat of the moment and I was stressed – and look at these injuries.”

Charles Igwe noted that Norimitsu Onishi also used the name in a September 2002 article he wrote for the New York Times. The term continues to be used in the media to refer to the Nigerian film industry, with its definition later assumed to be a portmanteau of the words “Nigeria” and “Hollywood”, the American major film hub.

Film-making in Nigeria is divided largely along regional, and marginally ethnic and religious lines. Thus, there are distinct film industries – each seeking to portray the concern of the particular section and ethnicity it represents. However, there is the English-language film industry which is a melting pot for filmmaking and filmmakers from most of the regional industries.
