Nigerian singer-songwriter Gabriel Oche Amanyi, widely known as Terry G, has once again weighed in on the viral moment when Burna Boy told a sleeping couple to leave his concert, offering strong support for the Grammy winner.
Sharing his thoughts in a video posted on his X page, Terry G said the backlash Burna Boy received was largely because he is a well-known public figure. He maintained that the singer’s decision was justified, drawing parallels with how church leaders handle similar situations.
According to Terry G, no one would question a pastor for waking someone who dozed off during a church service, so Burna Boy should not be judged for doing the same during a live performance.
He also pointed out that incidents like this can be used to damage an artist’s image, stressing that showing up to a concert only to sleep is unfair to performers and can negatively impact future turnout.
“Una too like to dey hold people accountable just because say dey don be public figure. If it happened in a church and someone was found sleeping, would the pastors not ask the ushers to wake them up? Because he’s musician, you are going to his show to sleep, so the camera can capture that moment and spoil his show,” Terry G said.
