Popular entertainer and activist Charly Boy has come out to speak about his relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He recently had his say via his X account, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, several Nigerians were shocked that a well-known critic of government could be close to a former head of state, but they share an uncommon respect for each other.

Charly Boy added that their friendship is well-rooted in a shared concern for the future of Nigeria.

His words, “People wondered how someone who constantly challenges authority could be so connected to a former head of state.

But life is not always black and white. Sometimes respect and understanding build bridges where people least expect.

Our relationship is not a publicity act but a quiet understanding. When they talk, our conversations often focus on national issues. There can be disagreement, but never bitterness. We may argue, we may disagree, but respect is always intact.”
