The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a circulating image claiming to show a newly introduced N5,000 banknote. The image, which has gone viral online, was shared by users alleging that the CBN had released a sample of a N5,000 note featuring President Bola Tinubu.

The apex bank simply debunked the report in a post via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that Nigerians should disregard the false image.

Its tweet read, “This content is fake. Let the public be guided.”
