Court Declares GEJ Eligible To Contest In 2027

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible to contest the 2027 presidential election. The judgment was recently delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, and Nigerians have been reacting.

Dismissing the suit that was filed by an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Mr Jideobi Johnmary, the judge held that the issue of GEJ’s eligibility has already been decided by the Court of Appeal.

Justice Peter Lifu concluded by describing the suit as frivolous and an abuse of the court process.
