The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has warned state governors whose universities are affected by the latest Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, ultimatum. The group recently had its say via a press statement, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Stressing that their failure to implement the 2025 agreement with the union could trigger another round of university strikes, NANS stated that students must not be made to pay the price for disputes between ASUU and governments.
The association added that any further shutdown of universities would deepen the academic, psychological and economic hardship already suffered by millions of Nigerian students.
It read, “It is neither fair nor just for students to be sent away from classrooms because of the irresponsibility of these state governments.
The classroom should be the last place where the consequences of an administrative failure are borne by innocent students.”
