Genuine Friendship Is Rare In Lagos State – Didi Ekanem

Nollywood actress Didi Ekanem has said that genuine friendship is rare in Lagos State. She recently had her say in a video broadcast on her Instagram page, and fans have been reacting.

Stressing that there are hidden motives behind most friendships in the city, Didi disclosed that some Lagosians go as far as conducting due diligence on prospective friends before establishing relationships with them.

The moviestar added that as soon as such people identify what they can benefit from a prospective friend, they start cultivating the relationship through social media comments and compliments.

Her words, “Before anybody would become your friend in Lagos, they would study you thoroughly. They would carry out their due diligence to find out whether you are the owner of the bakery or connected to the owner of the bakery.

They want to know who your friends are, who you are rolling with, they want to know if you have connections. It is never free.

Once they see you have everything they need, they would approach you for friendship. Don’t worry, it is not you that would go to them, they would approach you. They would start by commenting on all your posts.

You would start seeing comments like, ‘I’m rooting for you sis’, ‘I’m proud of you Queen’, ‘You are doing amazing sis’.

Before you know it, they would invite you to one frivolous event where you would buy aso-ebi N1 million. Once you pay for their yeye N1 million aso-ebi, they would post you on their Instagram page for others to see and be jealous.

You would hear things like, ‘I asked God for a friend, God gave me a sister’, ‘Sister, you are the best human being on earth’, ‘You are the sister I never had’. Meanwhile, you have not met each other one-on-one.

She would pray for you so much you would believe she genuinely loves you, not knowing she would come for your bakery because she believes you are only feeding her crumbs. Her target is your bakery.

These women in Lagos are dangerous species. These women dare look each other in the eyes and sleep with each other’s husbands while still remaining friends. They started the saying, ‘Hide your man o’, because they know who they are.

The same women would come and post houses and cars and you start feeling pressured. You will enter inside your room and start crying as if God has forgotten you.”
