Popular rapper Phyno has said that Igbo stars can make more money from local events than artists who perform at major venues in the UK. He recently had his say while speaking on Adesope Live’s Afrobeats Podcast, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the difference comes down to how often these artists get booked for events such as weddings, birthdays and burials.
Phyno added that a steady stream of private events guarantees a reliable way to earn throughout the year compared to depending mainly on the success of a particular song.
His words, “Igbo superstars make more money than artists who perform at the O2 Arena and London Stadium because they perform every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at weddings, birthdays and burials, while Afrobeats artists need a hit song before they can make money.”
