Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has praised his side’s character after the Gunners secured a hard-fought draw against Bayern Munich in the UCL. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Despite failing to beat the Bundesliga champions, the Norwegian midfielder believes that the performance proved Arsenal can compete with Europe’s elite in the most hostile environments.
Odegaard concluded by admitting that while he felt a win was within reach, the share of the spoils was ultimately a fair outcome for both teams.
His words, “Yeah, probably a fair result to be honest, but I feel like we could have won the game as well.
I think we did a lot of good things, started the game really strongly and I thought we played a good game. It was a really tough team to play against, lots of man-to-man, duels all over the pitch and so much quality.
I thought we did really well and it’s just a shame we couldn’t get the win, but it was a strong performance.
Yeah, it was a good pass for sure. I just saw he made the run and there was space in behind and I was able to find him – so happily he was onside as well. We started the game strong, scored the first goal, but then went under, so I thought we did really well to fight to get into the game again.
At least we got the draw. So, lots of positives and a few things to work on, but it was a good performance.
Yeah, that’s the life! That’s what we want. Just looking forward to the next now and recover and get ready for it. It’s going to be another big test, and it will be good to get back to the Emirates so looking forward to that.”
