Popular Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has said that he has always hated rapping in English language. He recently had his say during an appearance on The Fuse, and fans have been reacting.
Admitting that rapping in his native language, Twi, was more exciting than performing in English, Sarkodie stated that using a foreign language made him feel inferior to other rappers.
The lyricist added that switching to Twi allowed him to express his emotions more authentically and compete confidently on a global stage.
His words, “I started rapping in English but felt like I was beneath someone when I rapped in English.
But when I rap in Twi, I feel equal to any other rapper in the world.
Rapping in Twi is my superpower. I express myself way better in my mother’s tongue. The emotions I want to put out come out best when I rap in my native language.”
