Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has praised his players for showing spirit and effort against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Hailing his team for displaying immense togetherness after Foden’s red card, Maresca stated that winning at Old Trafford with 10 men was nothing short of special.
The Italian coach added that he celebrated the way he did because it was an unbelievable victory away from home.
His words, “It is the emotion of the derby after [winning with] 10 men.
It is always nice to win with 10 men but a derby is a special game for everybody. I was happy and I think it was a normal reaction.
After the red card the plan changed completely. The spirit, effort, togetherness of the players has been fantastic.
I think it was a red card [for Phil Foden] to be honest, but also in the same action for [Manchester United’s] Bruno [Fernandes], not just for us.
I think it was onside clearly so it’s good. We didn’t concede any transitions or space behind.
It’s a special game for everyone; the fans, the club and the manager, but this is not the moment when I’m thinking about myself. I’m thinking about the team and an unbelievable three points.”
