Adamawa State Government has come out to say that it is shocked with the increasing rate of COVID-19 spike in the state.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri recently has his say via his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonoshiko.

According to him, the cases keep going up because of the clear compliance to COVID-19 restrictions, and the government will have to take necessary measures it deems fit to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

He then begged for cooperation and support from the public in its efforts to contain the new wave.

His words, β€œAny Club, Event centre or business premises so directed found contravening this rule will be closed down”.

β€œI am of the view that we should not wait, as happened earlier, for this virus to again spiral out of control before taking action. the world is facing a surge in Coronavirus cases and hospital admissions, We want people to follow the rules in order to avoid stricter measures which looks increasingly likely, Meanwhile, Government will ensure that all health facilities are prepared and ready to handle any eventualities.”

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri born (October 27, 1967) is the current governor of Adamawa State. He was a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, and was appointed the Speaker of the House.

He became the acting Governor of Adamawa State Nigeria, following the impeachment of admiral Murtala Nyako in July 2014, handing later to Bala James Ngilari after serving for three months.

In the March 9, 2019 Adamawa State Governorship Election and upon the completion of March 28, 2019 Adamawa State supplementary election, Ahmad was declared winner of the Election having polled 376,552 votes defeating the Incumbent governor Bindo Jibrilla of the All Progressive Congress who polled 336,386 votes.

Fintiri won the governorship election of Adamawa State that took place on the 9th of March 2019, however, the election was declared inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes was more than the margin between the winner and his close opponent.
