A former Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, a.k.a Jandor, has announced his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Jandor, who defected back to the APC in March, 2 weeks after leaving the PDP, challenged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 governorship election, where he ran alongside Nollywood filmmaker, Funke Akindele, as his deputy governorship candidate.

Speaking during an interview with Vanguard during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Jandor promised to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of 2027.

According to him, he believes the President deserves another term to consolidate on all of his achievements thus far.

Dismissing potential contenders like Seyi Tinubu and Akinwunmi Ambode, he declared that he plans to be part of the Lagos State governorship race in 2027 because he really wants to serve Lagosians.

“As for Lagos State, I am offering myself once again to serve. I’m indeed running for the Lagos governorship race in 2027,” he said.

Jandor further commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as “progressive and visionary.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast, expressing optimism that the country’s future remains bright.

“When it was time for me to truly leave, I came all out, and we took Lagos by storm. Very soon, activities will begin to galvanise support from Mr President and the party to ensure that whoever picks the APC governorship ticket in Lagos will have a strong run. Let me put this to rest: I am running in 2027.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven his capacity to lead this country with vision and courage. I call on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure he gets a second term in 2027 so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership,” he added.
