D’banj Says Don Jazzy Was Fully Behind Mo’Hits Breakup

Music icon D’banj has once again reflected on the end of Mo’Hits Records, stating that the decision to go their separate ways came solely from his former partner, Don Jazzy.

The award-winning music producer had announced the label’s split back in 2012, attributing it to disagreements within their partnership. But speaking on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On podcast, D’banj emphasized that he was not the one who initiated the move.

“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent. And that’s why we have no issue,” he explained.

He also praised Don Jazzy for handing him full control of his catalogue, along with several unreleased songs. “Jazzy gave me 100 per cent of my catalogue and maybe 10 other songs I have not released… It was a journey for me, even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement and I’m glad that even after, God still did it for us with ‘Oliver Twist’, which was the last record we released together,” D’banj added.

Though he admitted that he misses their collaboration, D’banj maintained that their parting was meant to happen and carries no regrets.
