Turkish Officials Don’t Understand Silly Tinubu Stumble Controversy – Abike Dabiri

Turkish officials have described the controversy generated in Nigeria over President Bola Tinubu’s brief stumble during his official visit to Türkiye as silly. The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, recently had her say via a press statement, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to her, one of the Turkish officials described the attention given to the incident as silly and mischievous, stressing that the visit itself is being widely celebrated in Türkiye.

Abike added that Turkiye has been more focused on the success of Tinubu’s visit thus far.

Her words, “Exactly. On ground here in Ankara, their officials were shocked to learn that it was an issue in Nigerian media/blogs.

One of them described it as ‘silly and mischievous,’ and reiterated how their country was excited about the incredible success of the visit by @officialABAT, which is all over their media here.”
