The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has questioned President Bola Tinubu over his alleged moves against opposition parties. He recently had his say at the ADC press conference at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to derecognise him and Rauf Aregbesola as leaders of the party.
According to him, the current political landscape raises concerns about the state of the country’s democracy because the constant attack against the opposition keeps undermining electoral competition.
Challenging Tinubu’s democratic credentials, he questioned why the president is scared of a free and fair election.
His words, “Right now, I speak to Nigerians at home and in diaspora. I also speak directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: with 90% of the National Assembly and over 30 of Nigeria’s 36 Governors in the APC, President Tinubu, what are you afraid of?
If you are convinced that you have done well for the people who voted for you, why are you afraid of a free, fair, and transparent electoral contest?
If you are indeed the democrat that you claim to be, why are you bent on destroying all opposition political parties?”
WOW.
