Manchester City’s record-breaking new signing Elliot Anderson has shared why he rejected a move to Manchester United in favour of the Etihad Stadium. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Addressing the long-standing rumours that MUFC made him their primary transfer target before City won the race, Anderson insisted that he made the right decision to sign for the blue side of Manchester.
Elliot added that his international teammate Stones played a significant role in his smooth transition to MCFC.
His words, “I was just golfing in Portugal and bumped into a few MUFC legends and had a nice chat and stuff like that, but I had a decision to make and I chose City.
I’ve seen a few things. It was blown out of proportion.
I was probably eight or nine when [Sergio] Aguero scored that goal. I’ve been watching City for the past 10 years. You’ve got a big decision to make – and I’m confident I’ve made the right one.
De Bruyne was always the player I looked up to over the last 10 years.
I loved watching him. To be here at the same club and playing where he played is special.
I had a few numbers to choose from and obviously Stonesy was the last number five and he was really good with me in the summer and I thought it would be a great touch to take that.”
