
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped four places to 30th in the latest FIFA men’s world ranking released on Wednesday. The three-time African champions, who were ranked 26th in the previous ranking, also dropped two places to sixth among African countries.
Nigeria’s latest position means Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire have moved ahead of the Super Eagles on the continent.
The Super Eagles had entered the latest ranking as Africa’s fourth-highest ranked team, behind Morocco, Senegal and Egypt.
The latest FIFA ranking leaves Morocco as Africa’s highest-ranked nation, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.
The top 10 African ranking has Morocco first, followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, DR Congo, Cameroon, Mali and Tunisia. Morocco are the highest-ranked African nation in seventh place.
Spain remain top of the FIFA ranking, ahead of Argentina, France, England and Portugal. Brazil, Morocco, Belgium, Netherlands and Mexico complete the top ten.
