Davido continued his impressive run in 2014 by winning the prestigious Best Male Artist award, a recognition of his dominance on the charts and consistency in delivering hit singles. Known for smash records like Skelewu and Aye, Davido’s energetic performances and wide fan base across Africa have cemented his place as one of the continent’s leading stars.
Tiwa Savage, often regarded as Africa’s “Queen of Pop,” claimed the award for Best Female Artist. With her blend of Afropop and R&B, Tiwa has become a household name not just in Nigeria but internationally, and this win highlighted her role as one of the biggest female voices on the continent.
Highlife superstar Flavour also flew the Nigerian flag high by winning Best Live Act, an award that recognized his electrifying stage presence and ability to thrill audiences with his unique fusion of contemporary beats and traditional Igbo highlife sounds.
Renowned music video director Clarence Peters bagged the award for Best Video, reaffirming his reputation as one of Africa’s most innovative visual storytellers. Known for his creative direction and signature cinematography, Clarence has played a major role in shaping the visual identity of Nigerian music.
With these victories, Nigeria emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, showcasing the country’s musical excellence and continued dominance in the African entertainment industry. The event also featured breathtaking performances, glamorous appearances, and a celebration of African talent, culture, and creativity on the global stage.
