Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle has called for the Africa Cup of Nations to return to a two-year cycle. He recently had his say while speaking to SABC Sport, and fans have been reacting.
Revealing that more regular tournaments will help African teams grow, Chelle stated that a two-year cycle would prepare African sides better for the FIFA World Cup.
The Franco-Malian concluded by emphasizing the economic benefits of hosting more often, including tourism, business and revenue for host nations.
His words, “For me, it’s perfect because when you want to improve, having one tournament every four years is difficult. So, having a tournament every two years now is perfect, so we can continue to improve.
We can grow together; we will play two big tournaments instead of the other nations playing one tournament.”
