Anambra Governorship Election In November Is Key To PDP’s Success – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has come out to say that the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP should allow governors oversee the conduct of the party’s congresses and governorship primary in Anambra State.

The Special Assistant to the Governor, Kelvin Ebiri recently revealed this via a statement in Port Harcourt, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, the victory of PDP in the November governorship election in Anambra is key to the success of the party, therefore things must be done the right way.

He added that effort must be made to ensure that no one is pushed away in the processes leading to the election of the party’s flagbearer.

His words, “Let us have party interest, not group interest and put everything aside. Anambra use to be a PDP state but because of wrangling and not giving in, that is what has made PDP to lose Anambra. Only two States in the South East which are Enugu and Abia are PDP today. If we add Anambra, it is a good boost for us.”

“It must be done transparently. Whether the Congresses or the primary itself, the governors will be in charge to come and do the election.”

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON (born 13 December 1963), also known variously as Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike or Nyesom Wike is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is the sixth and current Governor of Rivers State.

He is an Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party and was educated at Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

Wike defeated Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party in the April 11 gubernatorial elections to emerge as governor.

During his second term as a governor, he kicked-off the construction of three major flyovers simultaneously in Port Harcourt. The location of the flyovers are at Garrison, Rumoukoro and Artillery.
