The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi. Justice Mohammed Garba Umar cancelled the charge following an application by the Federal Government, which said Adeyemi would be transferred to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for fresh arraignment.
At Monday’s proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, moved the application seeking the termination of the case.
According to him, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has reviewed Adeyemi’s case file and the charge initially filed by the Inspector-General of Police, identifying some loopholes.
He added that the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi while operating the purported agency constituted offences that could be prosecuted by the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.
Counsel for Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application, following which Justice Umar struck out the charge.
