Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has said that he is feeling empty after Norway got dumped out of the World Cup by England in a dramatic quarter-final clash. Haaland was left fuming with the match officials after a contentious VAR intervention in an incident involving his new City team-mate Elliot Anderson, which denied his side a crucial goal in the second half.

Expressing his disbelief at the decision to punish him for a challenge he considers part of the game, Haaland revealed that it was a weak decision to disallow a legit goal because of a normal duel.

Erling added that he gets pushed like that consistently during corner kick tussles, and he never gets a foul.

His words, “It feels a bit empty, to be honest. I felt we deserved more. I don’t think it’s a free kick. It’s been disallowed because I push Elliot Anderson to the ground, like I get pushed in every single duel. It’s a bit bitter.

So, if there is a free kick, I almost have to get a free kick in every duel – in every single match. Because I get pushed, I get pulled all the way, and I think it’s weak.

Small moments decide things in the World Cup. Against Brazil we managed to turn it in our favour. Today when we get the 50/50 decisions against us it will be difficult.”

Erling Braut Haaland is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Norway national team. Considered one of the best players in the world, he is known for his speed, strength, positioning, and finishing inside the box. Haaland holds the record for the most goals scored by a player in a single Premier League season, with 36.

Haaland was born on 21 July 2000 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, as his father Alfie Haaland was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League at the time. In 2004, at the age of three, he moved to Bryne, his parents’ hometown in Norway.

Along with playing football from an early age, Haaland took part in various other sports as a child, including handball, golf, and track and field. He also reportedly achieved a world record in his age category for the standing long jump when he was five, with a recorded distance of 1.63 metres in 2006.
