Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has appointed Nollywood actresses Rachael Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi as aides. The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, recently made the announcement via a press statement, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Revealing that Governor Mbah approved the appointment of 118 aides across three categories: seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and 88 Special Assistants (SAs), Onyia disclosed that Okonkwo was appointed Senior Special Assistant for Film and Creative Industry Development.
He added that veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi was appointed Special Assistant for Women Mobilisation for the Enugu-North Zone.
In their new roles, Rachel will drive initiatives in film and creative industry development, while Anunobi will oversee women mobilisation efforts in the Enugu-North Zone.
Eucharia Anunobi, born 27 May 1965, is a Nigerian actress, producer, and pastor. She is best known for her role in Abuja Connection (2003).
She was a nominee of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or TV Series in 2020.
Eucharia Anunobi married Charles Ekwu in 2000 and had a son, Raymond Ekwu. They divorced after six years of marriage.
Raymond died from sickle cell complications in 2017, aged 15. Following Anunobi’s divorce from Charles, the actress filed a 100 million-naira lawsuit against him in 2010. In 2015, Anubobi’s father Felix died after a brief illness.
