Former Nigerian international Dimeji Lawal has expressed deep disappointment following the Super Eagles’ 3-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau in their second Group L match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Reflecting on the match, Lawal blasted the team’s display, stressing that Super Eagles allowed Guinea-Bissau to dominate the game instead of taking the match to the host.
Lawal added that even though he believes Nigeria will still end up topping the group, he is very disappointed with the result.
His words, “I expected the team to take the game straight to their hosts, but we allowed them to dominate and created very few chances to threaten their goalkeeper.
I really feel disappointed with this result, but that is not the end of the world because there are still many matches to play in the group. I am still optimistic the Super Eagles will top the group.”
