Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is set to be released by Monaco after a series of injuries. The French club recently had its say via a press statement, and fans have been reacting.
According to Monaco, the objectives the club had set for Pogba were only partially achieved, hence its decision to end his contract that would have run until June 2027.
Pogba is currently sidelined with a thigh injury, just after returning from a knee problem.
Paul Labile Pogba (born 15 March 1993) is a French professional footballer who plays for Serie A club Juventus and the France national team. A versatile player, he operates primarily as a central midfielder, but can be deployed as a left winger, attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder and deep-lying playmaker.
Pogba was born in Lagny-sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne, France, to Guinean parents. He is a Muslim. He has two older brothers who are twins – Florentin Pogba and Mathias Pogba – born in Guinea, who are also footballers and play for the Guinean national team.
Florentin currently plays as a defender for ATK Mohun Bagan, while Mathias most recently played as a forward for ASM Belfort. Growing up, Pogba was a fan of Arsenal.
Primarily a central midfielder, although he is also capable of playing on the left flank, in a holding role, as a deep-lying playmaker, in a box-to-box role, or even as an attacking midfielder.
