The State Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi recently revealed this to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.
According to him, the one-week extension is meant to normalise the state academic calendar after several disruptions due to the effect of the COVID- 19 pandemic.
He added that he is very grateful to parents and guardians for their support to the Ministry.
His words, “All students of boarding schools are to resume on Sunday, September 12, 2021 as against September 5, while the day-school students are to resume on Monday, September 13, 2021, instead of September 6 as earlier announced.”
“The Commissioner, however, expressed appreciation to parents guardians for their support to the Ministry, hoping that the goodwill will be sustained.”
“He therefore urged them to ensure that their wards resumed school at the stipulated dates.”
