The Headies founder, Ayo Animashaun, has blasted Nigerian artists who submit their work to foreign award bodies but ignore the local music awards. He recently expressed his displeasure via a post on his Instagram Story, and fans have been reacting.
Accusing Nigerian musicians of proudly submitting their works to international awards while ignoring his award show, Animashaun stated that these same singers will complain about not receiving any Headies nominations despite failing to submit their entries for consideration.
He added that the different attitudes these artists display towards local and international award organisers is very hilarious.
His words, “Tom, D*ck and Harry will submit entries to foreign award bodies that don’t even care about them and proudly post about it. But these same people won’t submit their entries to the Headies, yet they’ll complain about not being nominated. Funny..”
