Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has recounted how the government provided ₦500,000 in financial assistance to an ailing colleague after he appealed for help. He recently had his say during an interview at his residence in Enugu, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Explaining how he used his influence to draw the government’s attention to his colleague’s health condition, Edochie stated that he was happy to see his appeal receive a positive response.
The moviestar added that his age and years of experience have earned him the confidence to speak to Nigerian leaders as a father would speak to his children.
His words, “During that period, one of my colleagues was ill, so I used that opportunity to call on the government to come help him.
The following week, the government sent him half a million naira.
I’m older than all the governors and president, so when I talk to them, it’s like a father talking to a son.”
