The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to organize a mock presidential election. The decision is part of measures to strengthen preparations for the 2027 general elections, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Announcing that it plans to conduct a comprehensive audit of all its electoral technology systems, the chairman of the Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, revealed that the move is necessary after concerns over the conduct of the 2023 general polls, particularly regarding the reliability of election technology.
He added that INEC will do everything possible to test the readiness of its processes before the elections.
