Around 351 persons were killed in 839 auto crashes in Ogun State in 2023, FRSC has said.

The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Anthony Uga recently revealed this to the press, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, drivers’ excessive speeding, traffic violations, wrongful overtaking, tyre bursts, and night journeys are the causes of most of the crashes, and all these triggers should not be encouraged in 2024.

He added that 2,092 persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crashes.

His words, “We appeal to motorists, especially those plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to refrain from over-speeding and dangerous driving to prevent avoidable crashes.

I advise drivers to install speed limiting devices in their vehicles and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations to minimise accidents.”
