Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has explained why he believes artificial intelligence (AI) is not a threat to Nigeria’s film industry. He recently had his say during an interview with TheCable, and fans have been reacting.
Describing the technology as a tool that can improve creative work, Adebayo stated that AI can help make work easier for Nollywood professionals, especially in the production of indigenous stories.
The “Jagun Jagun” producer concluded by calling for professional training programmes to equip filmmakers and other creative professionals with the knowledge to incorporate AI into their work.
His words, “I actually wonder why people think AI is a threat to our industry. As far as I’m concerned, AI is an enhancer of smooth works in our industry, you know.
So what I think we should do is do professional trainings in AI, and then we can now know how to use the AI in enhancing our projects, our work, especially our indigenous stories. So for me, AI is more of a helper than a destroyer.”
