PSG manager Luis Enrique has praised his team’s performance during their 4-2 victory over Barcelona. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Emphasizing the difficulty of the match and the strength of the opponent, Enrique highlighted the importance of adapting to match conditions to achieve victories and win titles.
Stressing that the clash went according to his expectations, Luis hailed his players for executing several attacking transitions perfectly.
His words, “I watched a match exactly as I anticipated, it was very difficult and complicated; you only realize the level of Barcelona when you face them. The match was very balanced, we had a very good first half, during which we dominated Barcelona and regained possession in the opponent’s half.
In the second half, we struggled for about 10 to 15 minutes, but we managed to regain control after that, we took the lead, which gave us calm.
In order to win matches and important titles against opponents who possess the same level as you, you must know how to adapt to the playing conditions. We had to defend with a low block for 15 minutes, but we know how to execute attacking transitions; the key is knowing how to adapt.
Last year, against Bayern Munich, we had to defend for sure, the opponents have a high level, and they can decide matches in their favor.
It will be the first trap we fall into if we think we are better than others or that we are an exceptional team. We put in a great defensive performance today, especially from the forwards. We were significantly superior in regaining possession during the first half, and that is down to our forwards.
Either you defend by supporting your teammates, or it becomes impossible to defend against players like Pedri and Dani Olmo.
I am a fan of Barcelona, but I am a professional and I enjoy my team’s victories.”
