Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has fiercely criticised the refereeing decisions that led to Ryan Gravenberch being sent off against Manchester City. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Blasting the referee for giving Gravenberch a soft yellow card after his foul on Elliot Anderson, Carragher stated that his poor decision made the sending off very frustrating.
Stressing that decision changed the game completely, Jamie criticized the ref for feeling the need to act because he thought Anderson was hurt.
His words, “It’s such a poor decision by the referee.
The thing that frustrates me is that he wasn’t going to give a yellow card.
He only gives it when he thinks Anderson is hurt.
That has nothing to do with whether a foul should or should not be a yellow card.
Roy Keane added, “I don’t see how he can get a yellow card for that. The whole game then changes.
Liverpool struggled with the physicality. There were spaces everywhere.
Liverpool looked like they had four men sent off. City were controlling it. For the first hour it was a tight game.”
