Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae has come out to speak about a popular food culture in the West African country.
She recently shared that Ghanaians’ love for boiled eggs is actually rooted in history and economics, not only taste, and fans have been reacting.
According to her, back in the day, meat was meant for the head of the family alone; therefore, as soon as the mother prepared stew, the bulk of the meat went to the father, while the children ended up getting very small pieces.
The singer added that to make up for the protein gap for the kids, eggs were usually added to their plates.
Her words, “Egg became a cheap add-on for protein.”
