Former Minister of Work, Babatunde Fashola has come out to say that President Bola Tinubu’s intervention is not required in the ongoing political tensions in Ondo and Rivers states.

He recently revealed that the constitution doesn’t give room for such, and Nigerians have been reacting.

According to him, the constitution clearly outlines the proper procedures and roles of officials in such situations, so people should not invite the president to intervene in such matters.

Fashola added that Nigeria’s constitution has been amended, and now is the time for us to amend ourselves too.

His words, “Are those inviting the President to act in Ondo and in Rivers states not aware that the President has no constitutional role in these matters?

Happily, in our Ondo case, some blue-blood Ondo indigenes have stood up to be counted. But they are in an obvious minority.

We have amended the constitution, so what is left to amend, except ourselves?”
