Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has come out to say that only qualified primary and secondary school teachers will be allowed to teach in the state henceforth.

He revealed this during a media chat to celebrate his one year in office on Sunday in Maiduguri.

According to him, his government has set up a committee to examine the qualification and quality of teachers and this will help to get rid of the unqualified ones.

He added that quality education is needed to improve the lives of the children in Borno.

His words, “If we are to maintain some of the unqualified teachers, then we have to post them to some other places.

“We want to ensure that we have the correct teachers to graduate qualified pupils from our schools.”

Babagana Umara Zulum (born August 26, 1969) is a Nigerian professor and politician. He was elected as the governor of Borno State in the governorship election of March 9, 2019 under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).He was sworn in as governor of Borno State on May 29, 2019.

After elementary schooling in Mafa Primary School from 1975 to 1980 and secondary education in Government Secondary School, Monguno from 1980 to 1985, he studied at the University of Maiduguri, where he obtained a degree in Agriculture Engineering after which he served as a youth corps member with Katsina State Polytechnic.

He proceeded to the University of Ibadan from 1997 to 1998, where he obtained a master’s degree in Agriculture Engineering. In 2005, he enrolled for a PhD in Soil and Water Engineering with the University of Maiduguri which he completed in 2009.

  1. Monguno, de 1980 a 1985, estudió en la Universidad de Maiduguri, donde obtuvo un título en Ingeniería Agrícola, después de lo cual se desempeñó como miembro del cuerpo juvenil. con Katsina State Polytechnic.
