Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, across the state should be stopped with immediate effect. This comes after the factional crisis that has engulfed the union since Monday, disrupting business activities and heightening insecurity across Osun.
Speaking via a press statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, Gov. Adeleke confirmed that the decision was reached after the State Security Council meeting on Thursday.
He concluded by directing the police and other security agents to arrest anybody who is parading himself as an official/executive of the union in any of the parks.
His words, “I hereby direct the police and other security agents to stop all activities of the union in all our parks across the state. I am not saying you should close the parks, but you should not allow anyone to operate in the parks in the name of the union in our parks.
Anyone found contravening this order should be arrested for possible prosecution for disturbance of public peace.”
